The Unmutual Grizzly Blog was founded by Jon Hawes in 2009 as a source for independent political thought and discussion.
“I like to think that I represent the average American. I live in a small town of 5,800 people, I’m married, and my wife and I both work 40-50 hours per week. I have a High School Diploma, but no College Degree. I have a mortgage, a car payment, a dog, and a cat. I have no unique qualifications for being a writer of political commentary, and I think that’s a good thing. I created this website to be a place where being famous, rich, or a member of the media is not required to have your opinion be valid. It’s a place where we can fight for the rights we still have, a begin to reclaim the ones we’ve lost but should’ve had all along. I hope you find my voice to be a refreshing burst of sanity in a crazy political landscape, and that you’ll join me whether you agree with me or not, because the best ideas are usually the fruit of disagreement and discussion.” –Jon Hawes
Politics can often be a heavy topic, and life shouldn’t be heavy all the time, so in the spirit of levity we’ve added “Harley Quinn’s BS Detector” and “Husker’s Roars and Growls” as unique sections of the blog.
Harley Quinn is the Hawes Family Dog. She’s half hound and has an amazing ability to sniff out the “BS” that is often being shoveled to us by today’s political leaders. She’ll let you know when she detects the scent in the air…
Husker is the Grizzly Bear that inspired the site name. He often reminds me that “When you take away a Grizzly’s freedom, he becomes unmutual.” Husker will be giving out “Roars of Approval” to individuals that do something worthy, and “Growls of Displeasure” to individuals who are deserving of such a dubious distinction.
